As
with nationals of Arab Gulf Cooperation
Council (GCC) countries, British citizens
with right of abode in the UK, do not
need visas to enter the UAE. They may
stay for one month, renewable for a further
two months. All other nationalities must
obtain a visa. The types of visas along
with procedures are summarized as under.
Visit Visa
A visit visa is valid for 60 days, renewable
once up to a total of 90 days. To obtain
a visa from a UAE embassy, the following
documents are required.

Passport
with 6 months validity remaining

Duplicate
application form

Letter
or fax from the sponsor in UAE to
the embassy concerned

A
letter from the applicant's company
with the photocopy of the same
Transit
Visa
These are issued for 15 days only and
can not be extended or renewed. UAE
companies sponsor such visas. Large
hotels can also sponsor transit tourists
and business visits.
Residence
Visa
Formalities are normally handled by
the company of the employment. A husband
can sponsor his spouse and family, once
he has sponsorship. A complete medical
test is required to process the visa.
The medical test is taken at Public
Health Clinics. Anyone who works in
UAE must have a valid "Labour card",
issued by the employer.
